AIHW 2024-25 public hospital activity release

Elective surgery admissions rose to 791,000 in 2024-25 from 712,000 in 2015-16, with half of patients admitted within 45 days against 46 days in 2023-24 and 6.0 per cent waiting more than a year. Emergency department presentations reached 9.1 million. This is a secondary carriage of the AIHW release rather than the AIHW page itself.
