Data period 1 September 1999 to 31 December 2024, analysing 2,285,453 primary and revision procedures split 972,256 hip, 1,205,616 knee and 107,581 shoulder. In 2024 robotic assistance was used in 41.9 per cent of all primary total knee replacements, with 100,753 robotically assisted total knee replacements recorded since 2016 across five robotic systems; 11.5 per cent of primary total hip replacements were robotic across four systems, and 53.4 per cent of unicompartmental knee replacements. Computer navigation was used in 18.5 per cent of primary total knee replacements, so roughly 71.6 per cent of 2024 primary total knee replacements used some assistive technology.
