Health system spending on disease and injury in Australia 2023-24

The conditions with the highest health system spending in 2023-24 were injuries from falls at A$5.4 billion, osteoarthritis at A$4.8 billion and back pain and problems at A$4.0 billion. The 2020-21 osteoarthritis figure was A$4.3 billion, 2.9 per cent of total health system expenditure and 29 per cent of spending on all musculoskeletal conditions.
