Number of hospitals in India: public and private split

India has roughly 70,000 hospitals in total, about 26,000 of them government on a 2025 estimate and 43,486 private per the WHO Global Health Observatory, so private facilities are about 62 per cent of all hospitals, holding about 1.18 million private-sector beds. This is an aggregator restating two upstream sources rather than a published official count, and it is the only all-India private bed figure found in this pass. It is carried at aggregator grade and must never be presented as an official statistic.
