MOHW policy position on robot-assisted surgery coverage

Korea's MOHW Insurance Benefits Division has decided that robot-assisted surgery remains 비급여 (non-covered), on the basis that safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently demonstrated other than for a few conditions such as prostate cancer and oesophageal tumour, and that coverage would be re-examined if further evidence on safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness is assembled.
