Curative (acute) care beds: 11,108 (2024)

OECD Health Statistics, Health Care Resources - Hospital beds by function of health care

Summary

11,108 (curative (acute) care beds, 2024). OECD 'curative care beds' (HC1) is the international acute-bed definition and EXCLUDES rehabilitation, long-term care and psychiatric beds. It is NOT equivalent to Japan's 一般病床 (general beds, which include much sub-acute activity) nor to Singapore's 'acute hospital' beds (a facility-type classification, not a function-of-care one). New Zealand long-term-care (HC3) beds are only 155.
