Summary
Knee arthroplasty was the second most frequent operating room procedure during inpatient stays in 2018 at 715,200 procedures, a rate of 219.0 per 100,000 population and 5.0 per cent of all inpatient OR procedures. Hip arthroplasty was fourth at 599,500. All-payer and inpatient only, on 2018 data, so it predates most of the ambulatory migration.
