6,103 cost reports covering 6,040 distinct provider CCNs. Taking the latest fiscal year end per CCN there are 3,209 short-term hospitals holding 638,186 beds excluding subproviders, 30,319,291 all-payer discharges and 4,532,392 full-time-equivalent employees on payroll, of which 1,110 hospitals have 200 or more beds and hold 457,621 beds between them. Across every Medicare-certified hospital type the totals are 793,862 beds and 33,257,718 discharges. The per-CCN aggregation is a derivation from the published row-level file, not a CMS-published total.
