UnitedHealthcare considers S2900 not separately reimbursable, holding it to be a technique integral to the primary surgical procedure. Reimbursement is included in the primary surgical procedure. Modifier 22 may not be used to report robotic assistance. The policy applies to all UnitedHealthcare Commercial benefit plans and all Individual Exchange plans, and to network and non-network physicians alike. Anniversary review and version change 1 November 2025.
